Beekeeping

Beekeeping throughout the Sharri region is a successful sector as a result of good climatic conditions, clean air and rich flora. In previous years, honey production was limited only to the needs of households. However, nowadays honey production is commercialized and has increased by 5% in the number of beekeepers compared to previous years.

The number of beekeepers has been steadily increased as a result of training and investment, including donor investments. The honey sector is mainly represented by men because it requires heavy work activities throughout the production.

Beekeepers usually sell honey from home and in some occasions by attending trade fairs. The honey is of a very high quality, with no chemicals and pesticides.
